This Smart Trike Premium was purchased by myself as a present and as i was so impressed with it i decided to review it. Mookie Toys also very helpfully provided some of the Assembly Instructions.
I bought this as a first birthday present for my son (Tommy), from Argos. The night before Tommy’s birthday I decided to set aside a couple of hours to assemble the Trike, tools are provided for this job but a Phillips screwdriver is also required. I was pleasantly surprised 30 mins later when I had a fully assembled chid ready Trike.
Assembly Instructions (part 1 part 2)
The instructions provided are clear and concise, until the section for attaching the straps, but after a quick removal of the seat I was able to correct my mistakes. Other than that it was all really straight forward, it was the wrapping of the Trike that I struggled with but that’s another story…
Using the Product
Now I had the added bonus of helping Tommy unwrap the Trike on his birthday and see his face light up as we strapped him in and did a few laps of the living room. As they say the proof of the pudding is in the eating and Tommy didn’t stop smiling all day.
We made plans to go out for the day and loaded the Trike into the boot of the car, I have a Ford Mondeo and the trike fully assembled with the handle retracted fitted in with plenty of room to spare and should fit comfortably in to most family size cars.
We arrived at our destination and the sun was shining so the sunshade was invaluable, although it does seem a little bit flimsy and once the wind crept up we had to reposition it a few times, but again nothing major. The adjustable steering handle has three heights and is extremely sturdy once clicked into position. I’m 6’3″ and the highest setting was perfect for me, it has quite a wide turning circle but this increases the safe and stable feel of the product, and as it is light it is easy to tackles kerbs and steps.
We did quite a bit of walking during our day out, over varied terrain from gravel paths to dirt tracks and across fields, the Trike had no trouble with any of it, and Tommy seemed to be in his element waving at everyone that passed us.
Tommy kept his new toys safe in the little bag on the front handle bars and we could keep a bottle and some treats on the handle bag.
This is a fantastic product that both parents and children will enjoy using it is easy to assemble, transport and use on most surfaces. I have only tried this product at stage one but will update this as Tommy grows.
As a parent I would recommend this to all my friends (and have in some cases), and at £84.99 form Argos it seems quite expensive, but when you take in to account the fact that this is suitable from 10 months to 3 years, it is proves very good value for money.
Mookie Toys are the UK distributor of Smart Trike and are probably more famous for the swingball.
There are many variants of smart trike on the market to cater for different ages and budgets.
